New Wooden Studio House in Plouhinec

Treh Koh House

Located in Vieux-Passage, Plouhinec, this compact 35 m² studio house was designed by Atelier Glaz to integrate seamlessly into its natural surroundings and the existing architectural ensemble. The project includes full architectural and interior design services, from concept to planning permission.

Design Intent

The studio focuses on green building principles and a harmonious relationship between indoors and outdoors. A simple south-facing volume maximizes sunlight, while large openings connect each room directly to the garden.

Materials & Sustainable Features

Built entirely in wood, the structure and façades use bio-based materials, including vegetal insulation for the walls and roof. A green roof planted with resilient species reinforces thermal comfort and softens the building’s presence in the landscape.

Living Experience

A wooden deck and surrounding gravel beds create a gentle transition to the natural ground—blending into grass, low shrubs, and seasonal flowering plants around the house. A cantilevered roof and screen wall protect the interior from overheating, ensuring comfort throughout the year.
